One Thursday we went to the zoo. We went into groups. Each group has a parent or a teacher to look after them. In my group we visited many places at the zoo. First we went to Pridelands. In Pridelands we saw giraffes, zebras and ostriches. Next we came to the flamingos. I like flamingos because they are pink. Then we visited the tortoise. He looked very old. Yipeeeee, we are now at the spider monkeys! I love them because they are soooo cute. Before we came to the spider monkeys we came across the cotton top tamarinds. The cotton top tamarinds have white fur on their head and that makes them have….. ear phones! Then it was time for lunch. After lunch we went back to school on the bus. What a lovely day we had!

At the zoo I saw lots of animals. My favourite animal was the lion because it roars really loud. Lions eat lots of food like meat. Lions are carnivores. They can camouflage in brown grass. They live in the Grasslands and the Savannah. Lions are fighting animals. I also like tigers. Tigers are bigger than lions. Tigers and lions are dangerous because they could bite you. Tigers are carnivorous. They like to eat the same as lions. That’s why I love tigers and lions.

Peacocks live next to the servals. Peacocks are nice but
they can be fierce as well. Peahens are girls and peacocks are boys. Peacocks
look beautiful when they open their feathers. The colours of the peacocks
feathers are green, orange, aqua and dark blue. The top of the peacocks head is
like a fan. A peacocks chest is dark blue. Peacocks fore-heads are blue and
their beaks are white. A peacock’s tail is gold, but it’s only gold at the
beginning of its tail. The stem of their tail is white. When their tails are
closed, it is orange. Their feathers are very, very long. At Auckland Zoo peacocks live with wallabies,
emus and kangaroos. Peacocks are herbivores. Peacocks are prey and predators.
Peacocks are big birds.

At the zoo I saw lots of animals. My favourite was the serval. It belongs to the cat family. It has long
ears because it helps them hear. They can twist their ears. It can run fast so
it can catch its food. Servals are one of biggest cats in the world. They have
sharp teeth. They eat other animals. Servals don’t like the water.

We went to the zoo and we saw lots and lots of animals. We
saw the hippo and it can hold its breath for 5 minutes! We saw a hippo trying
to scare away the birds. We also saw the elephants. We saw an elephant taking a
bath! While it takes a bath it’s eating some carrots. At lunchtime everyone sat
on the grass to eat their lunch. After that we got to explore more animals. We
saw the meerkats and we got to go in the meerkats tunnels. Next we saw a lion
having a rest and a lion staring back at us. We went to the kiwi house. We have
to be very quiet otherwise we will scare away the kiwis.
