Alice the beekeeper visits us.

Alice came today to talk to us about keeping a bee hive.  She said that bees need us to help them survive. They are in danger because of a mite that destroys the hive.

She asked us to think of ways of how we could look after the bees.

Logan said "we could plant more flowers."

Jack said "don't pick or destroy the flowers."

Thomas L said " keep out of the bees way."

Alice said that bees won't sting you if you leave them alone to do their work. We also have to teach our parents about bees. Thanks very much to Alice for sharing her knowledge with us.

P.M.P. in the hall is fun!

On Mondays we go to the hall for P.M.P. This means Perceptual Motor Programme. We listen to instructions, co-operate in teams and have fun rotating around all the activities. We learn to balance, co-ordinate our bodies, throw and catch, crawl, stretch, roll, and move in all sorts of ways on the equipment.

Yum Yum Pikelets!

Mrs Harsant is putting runny honey on our pikelets.

Who likes pikelets? We do! We ate pikelets with honey and whipped cream on the top. Then we had to talk about what the ingredients were in pikelets.Next we will research where all these ingredients come from and what changes they have to go through.

Science Experiment

We are researching facts about wool. Last week we were scientists. We did an experiment to see if wool was a good insulator. We put boiling water into 5 jars covered with 5 different coverings. We put a thermometer into each jar. After half an hour we checked the temperatures. We did the experiment 3 times. Twice the wool showed us that it was the best at keeping the water the warmest.

Ambury Farm

The Bachelors visited Ambury Farm last Friday. We had a fantastic time meeting all the animals. They were so friendly. Read our stories.

The pigs were greedy. I saw the pigs eat worms. Yuck!” said Thomas L.

“I liked the pigs even though they felt funny,” said David E.

“We got to see the pigs. One pig was so huge with a metal ring in it’s nose,” said Laila.

"I felt like patting Jeff because he felt fluffy and he had curly wool," said Sam. "Feeding the sheep was fun because it tickled when it nibbled my hand," said Holly. "It tickled so much when I fed the sheep that I didn't want to feed them any more, " said Rosheen.

Chickens Everywhere

“I liked feeding the baby chickens but I dropped the food,” said Sam.

“I liked the chickens because they are fluffy but they have hard beaks,” said Michelle F.

“I liked it in the hen house because there were lots of eggs and one of the hens was sitting on it’s eggs. It was cool,” said Hunter.

Belladonna the horse.

"The big horse was interesting because it was bigger than I thought and it could swing it’s tail so the flies could not tickle her," said Dasha. "I liked the horse Belladonna even though Bella was old and had big slobbery lips," said Angelina. "It was cool brushing the horse because I brushed it’s mane," said Holly.
